Geography is an interesting and practical field of study. It provides a useful problem solving approach for investigating and analyzing many important issues facing today and the future. Jobs exist in both industry and government for community college and university Geography graduates. Geography provides valuable background information and analytical skills used in other professions such as engineering, business, law, journalism, marketing, recreation and travel. Events and distances appear to be decreasing daily due to improving technology and communication systems. We live in a world characterized by conflicts, contrasts and changes that require solutions through better understanding. You will be encouraged to "think globally and act locally" in all of the studies you undertake. Geography courses develop skills in gathering information in a multitude of ways. Issues and case studies of human utilization of the environment involve recording, summarizing, and analyzing information. You will be involved in drawing conclusions and expressing your points of view in a variety of ways that will be of value for the rest of your life.
