C. Sarellas
Principal
Mr. Sarellas completed his secondary school diploma at Oakwood Collegiate in Toronto . His post secondary and graduate studies took him to McMaster University , the University of Toronto , McGill University , and Mount St. Vincent University . Mr. Sarellas began his teaching career at a private boy's school in Montreal , teaching Biology and General Science. He subsequently moved to Ontario and taught at the Elementary level while at Maple Leaf Public School . When he moved to Huron Heights Secondary School he taught, Science, Math, English and Physical and Health Education. Mr. Sarellas subsequently became the Head of the Physical Education Department and Athletic Director at Milliken Mills High School .
While at Milliken Mills he pursued a career as a school administrator, first becoming an Administrative Assistant and then a Vice Principal. When Mr. Sarellas moved to Langstaff Secondary School he received his first taste of being a Vice Principal at a French Immersion High School . He subsequently moved to British Columbia where he was appointed as the Vice Principal for Byrne Creek Secondary School , the new high school being opened by the Burnaby School District in September 2005. Mr. Sarellas came to Vaughan Secondary School as Principal this September.
Mr. Sarellas is also a very successful basketball coach. He is a Basketball Expert for the International Olympic Committee and FIBA; having conducted clinics and serving as Technical Advisor responsible for setting up coaching, player and officials programs in Cyprus, Grenada, Antigua, and for several clubs in Italy, Greece and France. He is a level three coach, a Master Course Conductor in Canada , and has served as a coach for camps at numerous Division I Universities. |
